Major amendment of the Road Traffic Act comes into force on August 1st, 2011
Under the No. 133/2011 Sb. the largest amendment yet of the Road Traffic Act No. 361/2000 Sb. since 2005 has been declared when the amendment was adopted introducing the point system in the Czech Republic. The amendment was declared in the Collection of Laws on May 25, 2011, and its main part comes into force on August 1st, 2011.
Some significant changes regarding transport companies:
- The point system has been amended and moderated
- A change has been promoted in the penalty points in case of breach of steering and rest periods where only serious violations of 20-30 % shall be punished, and not as yet also for a few minutes
- The truck drivers don’t have to undergo an examination by a neurologist and an EEG examination anymore
- The nationwide ban on truck overtaking on highways has been averted
- After almost five years it has turned out well to enforce the co-responsibility of the consigner for the load weight
